A structured cabling technician handles responsibilities related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of cable systems and associated hardware. In this role, your duties require you to use hand and power tools as well as work in small spaces and from various heights. You install pathway systems, connect hardware, test and troubleshoot connections, upgrade current products, provide customer support, assist with manufacturer warranties, and maintain proper documentation. A structured cabling technician works with various telecommunications at the point where the service provider ends, using CAT 5, CAT 6, and fiber converters when appropriate.
